Locally owned clothing store. Or, Thrift Shop.
Adding a Community Center would allow many of the proposed ideas to flourish. A meeting place such as a vibrant community center attracts people to downtown. Services (much needed) and events could be offered through the center. Creates an opportunity for intergenerational involvement. Is a vehicle for cultural identity. Hopefully built in safe, green space (to encourage outside activity).
Suggestion
Grants for Agawam residents trying to start up a new local business
Suggestion
Would like to see all the large strip malls redeveloped into mixed use. Add some new streets and infill. Could even do it in phases.
Suggestion
Art galleries/studios
Suggestion
Small supermarket/co-op
Suggestion
Brewery and/or wine bar
Suggestion
Coffee shop/bakery
small independent business, cafes with outdoor seating. I don't know if this is the right area, but I would also like to see the Easthampton Co-op or Trader Joe's.
improved store fronts, fewer industrial and more small businesses
in reply to mchase's comment
Teader Joe's needs more traffic, that would be a tennis Rd idea?
in reply to jbonfiglio@agawam.ma.us's comment
This is a bid district area, can the funds in the bid pay for this?
Question
How much money has a accumulated in the business improvement district fund for Walnut St Ext?
Suggestion
Ramaj circle needs to be included, and fiber needs to be run to Ramaj circle.
Ramaj should be the focus, could make a nice area of many types of businesses
Suggestion
Would love to see new/updated facades/storefronts. Commercial stores on bottom and residential units on 2nd floor to bring in the foot traffic that is needed to maintain something like this
Suggestion
Need to find out how to build around the Massdep Contamination plume. The buildings are old and not suited for success. Need to tear them down, redesign the area, with the parking lot and road over the dry cleaning chemical plume. New building built not over the plume.
Suggestion
For this all to work, the Games and Lanes area absolutely needs to have something done with it.
a cafe with a space for art and music. Or a store like a trader joes.
Supermarket?

services that attract visitors to local restaurants
specialized grocery
brewery
retail
More Housing

Greater spectrum of business types
Suggestion
I'd love to see a coffee shop (even though I don't drink coffee lol) and maybe a small market. Possibly even a fun breakfast place
More open hours
Former Games and Lanes property
All ha. There is lots of room for new business and open spaces. planning is the key
Façade Improvement Grants or Loans
Infrastructure Support
Suggestion
Clean up the old games n lanes property. That area being right in the middle looks terrible.
Coffee shop, breakfast more cafe/bar type places. Keeping in mind we need daytime walking traffic to help make this successful
Suggestion
Maybe a grant for businesses to improve the front of their building/businesses to make it look nicer and more inviting.
updated store fronts, refurbish to give more eye appeal
Improved storefronts
Suggestion
I would love to see updated facades on the businesses to create a cohesive look on Walnut Street Ext. I'd love to see it become a walkable area with outdoor cafes
